Christopher P. Leddy
Attorney Leddy has a degree in Criminology and Philosophy from the University of Maine where he graduated magna cum laude. While at the UMaine School of Law he served as an intern in the Cumberland County District Attorney’s office. Prior to joining Ainsworth, Thelin & Raftice, P.A. in 2010, Chris worked for the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office and the Attorney General’s office. He has taught cadets at the Criminal Justice Academy for the last 10 years.
“Having been a prosecutor and having that particular angle of expertise is unique to defense counsel. I have conducted hundreds of hearings and I understand how prosecutors approach particular cases. This perspective allows me to develop legal strategies that are best suited to favorably resolve cases for my clients.”
Christopher Leddy spent 6 years working in the Attorney General’s Child Protective Division. While in that capacity Chris received extensive training in varying aspects of child development, including exposure to special needs children and situations of abuse. It was during his work with the Attorney General’s office that Chris became a Guardian Ad Litem and he draws upon that exposure to difficult family dynamics as a Guardian and private counsel in the domestic relations setting. Chris’s experience encompasses both rehabilitating parent-child relationships and terminating unhealthy influences that are not in the best interest of a child. His litigation experience in those more difficult aspects of family law can often lead to more efficient resolutions for clients. He has appeared in Family and Probate Courts in Cumberland and York Counties and argued before the Law Court on parental rights as well.
